because violence makes people MORE moral

every day people around the world prove how twisted their own self-righteous views of morality are.

every day people prove how lame they are as well.

i just read that a baby seat was thrown through a window of the van belonging to the infamous Octuplet Mom, Nadya Suleman. For those living under a rock these past several months, Nadya Suleman (now being stupidly referred to as "Octomom" (SIGH) is the lady who already had 6 kids via artificial insemination, no husband, no job, and then was artificially inseminated again and thereby conceived octuplets.

now, not being on a high-horse in the least bit, i do have some issues with the woman's choices. and i'm concerned about her mental state as well as the quality of life that she will provide for all those kids on her own.

if you really want my opinion, i think some people go too far with the kid-having thing, and i'd be interested in their real motives behind it. now, i LOVE kids and hope to have several some day. and there is no moral code, per se, about how many kids one should have. but i always get concerned with people who keep having baby after baby after baby. some people try to fill voids in their lives with kids - voids that can never be filled with children, relationships or material possessions. there's no way i can judge this woman and say that's where she is mentally, but i'd be interested to know what is her real push behind wanting so many kids.

i feel the same way about that Duggar family who has 18 kids. at some point, i have to wonder, what exactly are you trying to achieve by having a child every year? i'm curious.

but i digress, as usual.

so anyway, no matter how much i may not agree with how she's (Suleman) doing this, and yes it's seemingly unfair to all those kids, there was never a part of me that HATED this woman or wished her harm. i mean, people have been sending her death threats......*blank stare*

and now someone throws a baby seat through her car window and speeds away. all these people sending death threats, hating her, vandalising her property, i am willing to bet are people who are so morally self-righteous that they have grown to literally hate her enough to want to cause her harm because of the choices she's made. they hate her lifestyle, they hate what she's done, they don't approve.....so to show that disapproval, they threaten her and vandalise her property.

um...how does that match?

it's akin to all those lunatics who are so moral and "religiously upright" that they oppose abortion by....bombing abortion clinics.

*another blank stare*

so let me get this straight: i hate abortion. i oppose its practice and disagree with anyone who performs them or chooses to have them done, because abortion is murder. so to show my hatred for the sin of killing unborn children, i bomb a clinic and kill the doctors inside.

yeah, because THAT makes sense. :-/

or people who oppose homosexuality because it's immoral and goes against God's natural order and plan for our lives....so they beat up and/or kill a homosexual in the streets.

because THAT makes it all better. :-/

back to the Octuplet Mom...what i want to know is, who are all these losers sitting around at home typing up death threats and sending them to her home??? or sitting around in their living rooms planning to purchase or otherwise obtain a baby seat, and then planning the drive to her house to go throw it through her car window.

is there NOTHING better to do? seriously, a death threat letter has to actually be written. that means that one sits down at a computer (or perhaps breaks out sheet of paper and a crayon) and actually thinks of all this stuff to say that is weighing so heavily on their minds that they just HAVE to put it in writing, and then type it or write it out, inserting "i will kill you" messages...and then actually sends it out.

that takes PLANNING. WHY DO YOU CARE THAT MUCH!?!

again, people are way lamer than we can even imagine.

on a similar but not really kind of note, it infuriated me and broke my heart to read that a Brazilian girl was excommunicated from the catholic church because she had an abortion to terminate the pregnancy resulting from an incestuous sexual encounter.

now i don't know all the details (i'll have to find the article and re-read) but...since when is it ok to kick someone out of the very place they need to be to receive healing and counsel for the kind of stuff going on in their lives?

now, in all fairness, in Matthew 18, the Bible DOES indeed talk about removing people from fellowship who commit offenses with no willingness or desire to change or accept correction from the Church. but that is AFTER steps have been taken to discuss the person's offense in private first. just kicking a person out of church because they've sinned is not following Christ at all. from the story of the Brazilian girl, there's clearly a lot of pain and emotional damage there (whether her incestuous sexual encounter was consentual or not) that screams that she needs counsel and healing.

God wouldn't turn His back on her if she asked for forgiveness...so why does the Church?

how can you look someone in the face and tell them to never come back to your church again?

and who gave the catholic church that kind of authority? i love how people just make stuff up.

it's no wonder that people hate church, hate God, hate anything having to do with church and God. because they read things like this and THIS is the image that is seared into their minds about what "religion" is all about. of course, we all are accountable for our own decisions and will have to stand before God on our own - we can't blame our choices on the influences of other people.

but i can't help but feel the burden of sadness that the Church has led so many people AWAY from God with all of its false teaching, corruption, unforgiveness and scandal. afterall, who in their right minds would want to be a part of an "organization" that kicks you out because you had an abortion? or because you were in a sinful relationship? or because you were pregnant? or because you were a drug addict? or because you were an alcoholic?

i sure wouldn't.
