someone stole the summer

can you believe it's already august?

where oh where did the summer go?

why is Time going by so fast?

Time and i have always had a toxic relationship.

ever since i was a kid, i've never been on time. i was always late getting ready for school and getting yelled at by my Mom. always finishing projects and reports at the last minute. and again, getting yelled at by my Mom.

that trend has carried into my adulthood with little change. i'm still always late, and i'm still always finishing things at the last minute. though no one is here to yell at me anymore. so i yell at myself.

and when i desperately beg Time to speed up, like when i'm in a meeting (falling asleep) that is dragging on for hours and hours and the air conditioner in there is blasting and my shivering is the only thing that is keeping me on this side of a coma, Time ignores me. well, no, it doesn't ignore me - it intentionally slows down just to make me suffer.

sometimes, in moments like those, i think i even see Time sneak and make the hands on the clock move backwards.

when i beg Time to cut me some slack and slow down because it's moving too fast and i can't catch up, it speeds up even more. Time likes to see how well i work under pressure and how fast i can run in heels.

or when i'm having fun and want the moments to last forever, Time once again says 'no' and hurries along, quickly turning my day into night and erasing the jollies i'd been enjoying.

and now, here we are again - me and Time going toe to toe. Time brought august quickly because i'll be 28 this month. and Time finds that to be hilarious. i'm not really laughing though.

and Time knows that in 10 weeks, there'll be a new baby whom i have so much preparing to do for, and i'm not ready. nowhere NEAR ready. Time is in stitches.

i wonder how well my daughter and Time will get along?

i hope they have a better relationship than i've had with Time. i hope it treats her well, and i hope that she learns to work with it instead of constantly fighting against it like her dear old Mom.
