i'm afraid of ventriloquist dolls/dummies. they look demonic and scary. same with clowns.
my baby will not have clowns at birthday parties.
ever.

God has an awesome way of uplifting and blessing me when i need it. yesterday a coworker surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, just because. i thought it was the sweetest, most thoughtful thing! i hadn't done anything to deserve them - he just felt a need to bless me. so he did.
and yesterday i was asking another coworker if his wife took DHA supplements during her pregnancies (DHA is a certain type of omega-3 which studies have shown is important for babies' brain and visual development during pregnancy and breastfeeding). on my first doc's visit at the beginning of pregnancy, my doc had given me a few boxes of DHA supplement samples. but i hadn't taken any since they ran out because they're expensive.
i've been taking my prenatal vitamins (which are also expensive) so i didn't think it was a big deal to have the DHA also. but the more i read, the more i think i should take them, especially since as a non-meat eater, i don't get omega-3s from fish. i do consume flax oil/seeds, and walnuts have omega-3s. but i don't consume them in high quantities, so a supplement during pregnancy seems wise.
i called my doctor to see if i could get more samples (i REALLY don't want to have to pay for them) and they said i could come pick more up! whoo hoo! whenever i can save $$, it makes me wanna dance. but i wanted my coworker's feedback on whether or not his wife had taken them also and if she thought they were necessary (they have a little baby who's almost a year old, and 2 other kids). he wasn't sure but said he'd ask her.
this morning, there's a note from him on my desk saying he has "presents" for me. before i could go to see him, he came out to my desk and had several boxes of DHA supplements, plus boxes of prenatal multivitamins! they were left over from his wife's most recent pregnancy and she gave them to him for me. that was incredibly sweet and thoughtful! i don't know why God sees fit to bless me with other people's kindess and generosity towards me. i certainly don't deserve His love like that. but i'm so grateful for it. :-)
thank You, Lord, for always moving on my behalf. i need You desperately.

i had my first Bradley Method childbirth class yesterday evening!! i would post about this on the other blog but i'm lazy. i'll give more details about Bradley and the class later (on the other blog), i just don't feel like it right now.
the class was awfully exciting and informative and i'm so glad we're taking them.
here's another moment for me to praise God! i had been stressed out looking for a Bradley class. sure, there are many different types of childbirth classes to take (Lamaze, general childbirth instruction, etc.) but i really wanted a Bradley birth class because it centers around what i'm looking for: a natural, unmedicated birth with minimal medical intervention. i believe it's best for the baby and for the mother. i'll talk more about that on the other blog too.
but i has having a rough time finding a class that met on weekday evenings (my friend often works and travels weekends for his job); i also couldn't seem to find a class that started early enough to not collide with my due date. Bradley Method classes are 12 weeks long (once a week), so i needed something to start in May or June so that i wouldn't still be in class in the weeks leading up to my due date.
after weeks of phone calls and searching and only finding weekend classes or classes that didn't start until too late (like July or August), i finally spoke to an instructor who helped me out tremendously. i was disappointed that i couldn't take her class (a weekend class) and she said she would call around and try to help me find another.
when i heard back from her, she informed me that another Bradley instructor had just opened a June session!! the instructor hadn't planned to have a session then, but because of the other lady's class filling up so fast, she asked this other instructor if she'd be able to do one. and she did!! AND her class meets in her home Wednesday evenings! AND because it starts the first week in June, the class will be over in August, which is perfect since i'm not due until the beginning of October. everything that i needed to be met, was met!
God has an awesome way of working things out. i prayed and prayed for Him to open a door, and He did! He is just wonderful :-) the instructor is so nice and warm; her home is so cozy and convenient to get to right after work; the class was perfect timing in all aspects.
i LOVE my God. i have every single reason to.

i'm turning 28 in August. i never ever thought i'd be 28 and still unmarried.
i never thought i'd be 28 and without my own family.
i always thought i'd be married by 24-25 and would have had my first kid by 26.
now here i am almost 28, STILL unmarried, and having my first child, alone. life is just....interesting.
mourning the loss of your ideals and dreams is painful beyond description.
i'll just leave it at that.

i think i need a part-time job. i need extra income. expenses are piling up and without a raise to help cushion things, i don't know what i'm going to do.
expenses will double once the baby actually comes. i just don't know how i'd work a full-time AND part-time job during the last few months of baby-baking. i'll be getting pretty big and i don't know how i'll feel about that.
plus, who in their right mind would hire a big old pregnant lady anyway? even if it's just for part-time work, they'd have to know that i'd only be there temporarily and would leave once the baby is born.
sigh....if i condoned gambling (which i DON'T at all), i'd almost wish someone close to me would hit the billion-dollar jackpot so i could do some serious kissing up.

i am SUPER bummed that this summer, i won't get to go to an amusement park and get on rollercoasters. :-( :-( :-(.
my sister and i go to King's Dominion almost every summer. we are rollercoaster JUNKIES!!!! and she is the greatest ride partner ever, because like me, she can tirelessly ride every ride in the park without complaint.
but due to me being pregnant, that excursion is called off this summer. well, it's called off for ME. she'll probably end up going with her friends, which i'm happy about because i'd hate for her to miss out just because i'm all preggy and can't get on any rides.
that really bites though. and i'm sad about it. everytime i see King's Dominion commercials, i just want to throw a hammer through the tv screen.

being pregnant makes you have to go to the bathroom A LOT. it's so annoying. and it's getting worse the bigger i get. ugh.
