"Silly rabbit....Trix are for millionaires!!"

man, cereal is that bull. there is no logical reason it should cost that much.

gen mills and kellogg can bite it - they will never see my dollars. they can keep their little elves or whatever. oh wait...that's keebler isn't it? nevermind, LOL.

but seriously, WHAT is about a 2 oz box of cereal that should make me want to pay $5 for it? have you ever read the ingredients?

i'm not paying $5 for a cup of some sugary wheat all puffed up in a box with some random talking animal or little person on the front. sugar is mad cheap. so are oats or wheat. so how come when they put them together and throw in some soy diglycerideacidophilislecithin #2, now all of a sudden it's all pricey?

and do they even still put toys in the cereal?? at least that was the further incentive back in my day. you get some playing cards or watch that doesn't work, and it would make your day for a whole week. i used to get in trouble for pouring the whole box of cereal into a big bowl so i could dig out the toy, then put the cereal back in. LOL. Mommy wasn't too pleased with that.

whatever, Mom, you can't expect an impatient kid to wait days until the cereal is eaten down to lower levels and reveals the prize on its own. shoot, i'm going for mine!

AND they think they're slick like we shouldn't notice the boxes have gotten smaller! cereal boxes used to be large! now they look like they've been on Atkins and south beach.

they purposely try to market towards kids too, making stuff all colorful and marshmallowy with some catchy jingle. because they know that in the grocery store, a kid will see all those boxes lined up on the shelf and be PRESSED to get one! and mom is going to buy it because if she doesn't that little tyke is going to hit the floor and cause a scene. so she throws the box at his screaming behind, his tears magically stop flowing instantaneously, she avoids ending up on youtube via someone's camera phone, and the kid is happy and best of all, quiet.

my kids? per-leeze.

we'll miss all that drama for sure. cuz my kids won't even know what cereal is. my kid will be like, "hey Mommy, what're Lucky Charms? some kids at school said it's good and there's a leprechaun on the box."

i'ma be like, "oh baby, leprechauns are a myth and so are Lucky Charms. and i don't think i want you hanging out with kids who are into witchcraft."

then i'll hand her a banana and a kiss and send her off to school.
