pedestals

why do we (humans) always fight for the top spot? we fight for the top spot in race wars, political wars, in corporations, sometimes even in friendships and family relations.

there's always a struggle for power, for oneupmanship, for rightness, for the title of "i'm (we're) the greatest and you're not." and in so many instances, we are willing to kill, steal, and destroy in order to be (or be seen as) the top, the best, the baddest, the biggest.

why is that?

what does one really find when one finally gets to the top?

** explanation of the picture: those are my two precious, darling babies, going hard, fighting for the top of the pedestal. they often do this until one overpowers the other and forces the other to jump off, after which the victor lays down on the pedestal platform, smiling smugly (no, for real) and refusing to move, lest the competitor sneak up there and steal the position.

symbolic, no?
