I'm someone's muse?

i'm speechless. and flattered. which says a lot, because neither of those are common happenings for me.

this morning, i'm walking up the usual path to the metro station entrance, and this guy that i see every so often on the train is standing there, looking as if he's waiting for someone. turns out, he was waiting for me (how did he know exactly what time i'd be walking up? - i mean, i get there at around the same time most mornings, but still..). anyway, he hands me this purple envelope and says that he's been carrying around this card since Christmas/New Year that he's been wanting to give to me. and on the front of the envelope are printed the words: "To My Metro Muse". wow.

so he tells me not to open it yet and to have a good day. then he walks in a different direction. so when i get to work, i sit down and open the card, and in it is a one-page letter about how gracious and stunning i am, and how he has become smitten with me. and that he's married (which, in my opinion, makes this whole letter thing completely inappropriate - i mean, if i were married, and my husband took the time to type out a one-page letter telling some woman he passes on the train how wonderful she is and how his legs get weak when he sees her - yeah, he really wrote that - i think i'd be pretty pissed and would feel cheated on), but that if he weren't, he'd love to sit and "interview" me about my life, what i do, where i go, where i live, what makes me cry; that he'd like to sing to me and know my favorite color and movie....it goes on and on.

now of course, the always cautious Lava was a wee bit...concerned...by all of that. i mean, this guy doesn't know me at all. so for him to ponder all of these things in his mind about a complete stranger, makes me wonder a little bit. i mean, not that i think he's some stalker...but hey, ya just never know these days. there are some lunatics in this world. heck, in the area i live in alone.

anyway, aside from the revelation that he's married, the letter was so witty and creative and corny (heehee) and romantic. i'm a sucker for corny, romantic gestures like that. so if he weren't married and if i were attracted to him (which i'm not), that would have SO won me over. not too many men these days would take the time to compose a letter to a stranger they see on the train once in awhile. he doesn't even know my name! (although in the letter, he cleverly inserted his guesses as to what my name is, in different places in the paragraphs. how cute :-).

so anyway, while i do find his letter-typing inappropriate for a married man (i mean, i understand that even when you're married, you may meet or see someone that you find attractive, but to give them a letter telling them how attractive you find them and that you're "smitten" with them, i think is taking it too far. i would feel very hurt if my husband did that), it was the sweetest, most creative and romantic gesture any man has done for me in AGES! it completely cured my sour mood caused by some impatient woman who had earlier blared her car horn at me and yelled something to me from her car window.

i guess there are still some die-hard romantics like myself out there...

of course, as my luck would have it, the ones that are left are frickin married...geez.
