the exit-only door to our (office) suite needs some hinge adjustment. it doesn't always close tightly on its own. as a result, when people leave out through that door, sometimes the door remains slightly ajar, unnoticed, and the alarm company people will call one of our staff at home at like 8pm to tell them the alarm is going off in our office.
i have contacted building managment 5 times about this, twice in person, three times via email. when i spoke to her about it verbally she assured me they'd be up to fix the door. no one ever came. days/weeks go by and i send her 3 emails. she never responds to my emails, so i can only assume that she's even getting them. and all my emails have the 'return receipt' option attached to them. i never get the return receipts back from her, so she clearly is clicking 'no' when the option comes up. tsk, tsk. (note: instead of typing "tsk, tsk" i had originally typed a not-so-nice name for her. but then i backspaced it. i guess i'm growing up afterall).
so yesterday, my office manager sends her an email about the issue with the door, as well as an inquiry about our lack of window blinds, and this chick responds to my office manager's email like 10 minutes later!!! (imagine me now in the 'i mean, what's up?!' stance: you know, arms open, bent at the elbow, palms out, mouth open). i'm like, OOHHH, you couldn't respond to ME, but my OM gets a quick and detailed response. nice. real nice. harrumph.

why am i seeing the headline "Bow wow and Ciara split up" everywhere, even in the Washington Express newspaper, like this is some major news?? i mean, c'mon, really...did anyone REALLY think that 'relationship' was destined to last forever? more importantly, does anyone really care? really. i, for one, am not heartbroken over the demise of whatever they had going on.

soooooo, it's april 13th and i have yet to do my taxes, which are due on the 15th.
i hope i don't forget to do them tomorrow (our computer at home is broken, so i guess i'll have to do them at work, which i hope i don't get in trouble for, and i hope my info won't be hacked into and my identity stolen. if someone does hack me and steal my info, i hope they at least have the decency to pay the IRS all the money "they" owe).
if i do forget, i'll let you all know what jail is like.

i was leaving the metro station the other day and witnessed the cutest little girl getting severely reprimanded by who i was assuming was her mother. the little girl, no more than about 3, maybe 4 years old, was crying and the lady was telling her to knock off all the whining and crying. at one point, they stopped walking and the lady grabs the little girl's tiny arm and yells some more, and immediately, the little girl reached her other hand back behind her to cover her butt, as if protecting herself from an impending "whuppin". i DIED laughing. poor child, she must have had a flash back from the last time she got yelled at like that, which must have been followed by her getting spanked on her butt, which prompted the reflex of covering her butt with that tiny little hand.

why did a solicitor/scam artist call my job saying "we need someone to go get the serial number off your copy machine." now, these people call her regularly asking for this information, without even identifying themselves. but when you ask them who they are, they only say they're from "the customer service center" (how specific, cuz of course there's only ONE customer service center in the country, right?). so anyway, i know they're only trying to run a scam or get some info to try to sell us something, so i never give them the information and they get mad. whenever i start to say, "no, thank you, we're not inter---" SLAM!! they hang up on me with a vengeance. well, last week, one such person called and says the usual about the serial number, and i say, "no thank you, we're not interested." and she says to me, in an overly sweet, professional tone:
"yeah, and your mother isn't interested either."
and i go: "WHAT??"
and she hangs up.
it's taking so much restraint for me not to curse as i'm typing this. while it was actually HILARIOUS to me, and i laughed for a long time about that, i was quite angry at the same time. i mean, really, was all that necessary?? it's not MY fault you have that stupid job, you con artist, you. don't take it out on me. but at least we all got a good laugh out of it. i DID manage to grab the number from the caller ID before she hung up. i'm tempted to call her and have some words with her. but so far, i've resisted the temptation. we'll see how long that lasts.

yesterday, i was driving down my street on my way home, and this idiot behind me was riding my bumper because i guess i was going too slowly for him. i was already doing 40 mph and the speed limit in that area is 30 mph, and i refused to speed up - for one, because after i got that ticket a few months ago, i'm paranoid about speeding now; and two, i refused to speed up out of sheer defiance. trying to bully me by riding on my bumper will only make me slow down more just to piss you off). anyway, it's a school zone, and they're really strict about speeding in that area because of all the kids, plus a crossing guard got hit by a car once on that street. so you never know when a cop is hiding out over there with his radar gun. well, when the road finally opened up into two lanes, the idiot swerved from behind me quickly and sped past me at like 60 mph.
when i got to the bottom of the hill, i saw the idiot pulled over on the side of the road with a nice white police car behind him, and a nice uniformed police officer walking up to his window.
aaah, the feeling of satisfaction i felt was indescribable. now, normally i don't laugh at people who get pulled over, because i now know the pain and frustration of getting a speeding ticket. but THIS time?? because of how he treated me on the road, riding my tail like that and speeding around me like a fool, i laughed all the rest of the way home (which was only about 10 seconds away). it's about time a cop did something right.
