jujitsu, prunes and maintaining low

my eyes are closed as i type this.

because i'm so tired.

i guess it's DSS (Daylight Savings Syndrome).

losing that hour has been kicking my bee-hind like jujitsu.

then again, it could just be .... well, never mind :-)

in other news, why didn't you guys ever tell me how good prunes/dried plums are!?! i just bought my first bag (sounds like i bought some drugs, lol) yesterday, and i love them! i'd never eaten them before because, well, who wants to eat something called a "prune." plus i vaguely remember having a near-death experience one time years ago after drinking some prune juice.

so naturally i just assumed the prune itself would be tragic as well.
who knew those little critters are actually quite tasty!

in other, other news, i went to the hair salon over the weekend to get the curly fro blown out straight - i LOVE it! those ladies did a grrrreat job. darn near melted every inch of my scalp with all the heat from their super-human blow driers. but still, my hair looks fabulous. and it is super long!!!!!! good heavens, it's amazing how, if your hair is really curly, you have no idea how much length is actually in there 'til you blow it out straight. i'm amazed and quite pleased.

it has been so long since i've straightened it, that i'd forgotten how much i love having it bounce in the wind. i feel so easy breezy beautiful cover girl. and it was nice to be pampered for a day and have someone play all in my hair. felt good, i tell ya....felt good.

but going to that salon also reminded me why i'm so grateful that i wear my hair natural. my hair is pretty wash-and-go...much easier to maintain. and while i do love my straight look, it's a lot of work to keep up. i was at that salon for 3.5 hours!!! there is no way i could do that on a regular basis. i wasn't built to be one of those women who regularly gets their hair done. when i used to perm my hair years ago, i had to go get it retouched and styled once, maybe twice a month (more if a special occasion called for it). and it was such a chore, easily spending 4 hours each time under hair driers, in and out of chairs.

not to mention the expense of it all. pssssh.

i like living the simple life. one thing my husband will never call me is high-maintenance.

in the meantime though, i'm gonna have fun tossing my hair from side to side like Cher. i don't know how long i'm going to keep the straight look up, so i'm gonna milk it for all it's worth.
