really?

so i've come into the knowledge that a lot of Christians abstain from kissing. meaning, they're in committed relationships, some even engaged to be married, but they have never kissed and won't until they get married.

i know a few newer couples whose first kiss (with each other) was at the altar after saying, "I do."

now, i'm a huge advocate for no premarital sex and no premarital a whole lot of other stuff that people do because they think it's ok as long as they don't "go all the way."

but when did kissing become something reserved for marriage?

i'm not making a judgment, i'm seriously curious. i don't advise just going around kissing anyone casually. but not even if you're in a committed, possibly marriage-bound relationship? really?

trying to understand that practice, i've concluded that perhaps a lot of Christians abstain from kissing because it can be (and often is) arousing. and the Bible does warn against doing things that awaken the passions of the flesh, so to speak. heavy make-out sessions have many-a time led to going way further than the parties involved planned to. so maybe, in the promise to remain pure until marriage, people don't kiss to avoid the temptation.

but if you are the master of your domain (LOL - tell me where that's from and you get a kiss - haha), can kissing ever be acceptable outside of marriage? God, to my knowledge, has written no regulations about it.

and i, for one, always preferring to show my hand and not pretend, love to kiss. and i do - again, i don't go around just kissing any guy i go out with, but yeah...dragonfly is a kisser :-D

what's your take? i'm interested! is kissing someone who is not your spouse "sinful" to you? (not within a marriage of course, because i'd hope if you were married you wouldn't be kissing other folk besides your spouse). but i mean, if you're unmarried, do you consider it sinful to kiss someone?

for those who are married, did you and your spouse kiss pre-I Do?
