i'm sorry Steph, et al, who were denied access to In the Oven. i forgot to change the settings to allow readers. it's open now!! so no need for invitations. sorry about that! :-D
Samantha asked some questions in her last comment, and Steph also requested that i answer them. so here goes:
1) Q: can Sami be an auntie?
A: sure thing! you will be Honorary Idaho Auntie :-)
2) Q: are we gonna find out the sex of the baby or wait?
A: we're back and forth on the issue! one day, we want to know when we go for our 20 week ultrasound (which is only 8 weeks away!). another day, we want to wait and be surprised. we have no idea what we're gonna do. i'm really not a fan of pinks and blues - so i'd love to do neutral baby colors like beiges, yellows, greens, SOME blues, oranges, whites, etc. if this is a girl, i refuse to let there be a bubblegum pink explosion. *gag* so i kinda hope we don't find out so that people can't buy us "gender specific" colors and gifts :-) is that selfish?? LOL
3) Q: have i had morning sickness?
A: honey, for weeks i had ALL DAY SICKNESS! i never vomited, but i was very nauseous from the time i woke up until i went to bed at night. i lost 4 pounds from not being able to eat, and only lived on soups, ginger ale, applesauce and crackers (all bland foods) for quite awhile. it has all gone away, thank GOD! with the exception of a few days here and there where i get a little nauseated if i don't eat a lot.
4) Q: does my diet have to change, or can i still be vegan?
A: i sure can still be vegan! :-) i told my doctor of my vegan diet, and she assured me the baby would be fine....as long as i eat enough! i have to up my caloric intake and make sure i'm getting enough calcium, protein, and iron (which can sometimes be difficult for vegans if we're not careful). so i'm pushing myself to eat more smaller meals throughout the day (which may not sound like a big deal, but it's really hard for me because i'm not a super-huge eater). and i'm also taking my vitamins, an extra calcium supplement, and something the Doc gave me called Expecta just to make up for any gaps in my diet.
they scared me telling me that the baby would be perfectly healthy and fine, but that if i don't get enough nutrients (especially calcium and iron), that the baby will bleed me dry, so to speak, taking all my nutrient stores, and i'll end up with bone and teeth problems. i will drink an entire cow before i let my teeth fall out and have to get dentures. so i'm trying my best to make sure i get all the vitamins and minerals we need! :-D
thanks for asking questions you guys! feel free to ask anything and i'll try my best to respond.
