election day tomorrow!

With Election Day looming ahead, I felt led to speak about something that has been on my mind since the beginning of this entire election process.

From the beginning, I have not been as excited as most are about this election. People have seemed borderline obsessed with this particular election. While I certainly appreciate the historical significance of it all, and while I am indeed grateful to have lived to see times like these, something about it all has been unsettling to me.

And I have struggled with not knowing for whom to vote - not because I am in favor of one candidate's positions and plans over the other's. Not because I think both have a great stance on 'the issues.' Not because I feel both would lead this nation into better times and better changes. Not because I wasn't sure which one I could trust or which I couldn't.

I hadn't quite been able to understand what my 'problem' with all of this was until a few short days ago (thanks God! :-D). The problem is simply that I don't trust EITHER candidate to make the changes this nation needs. And that is because the change we need will never come through men on this earth, but from God and God alone.

I know that this nation (and most nations around the world) have been in turmoil for some time now. And a CHANGE is indeed needed, wanted and desperately desired. But I urge everyone to keep in mind that Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain are only men and are not God. God, since the beginning of time, has appointed earthly leaders, no doubt. But we need to not be so charmed and mesmerized by the promises these men are making and instead be looking to God to make changes, not only in the nation but in the hearts of its leaders and citizens.

It is a dangerous place to be in when we start idolizing politicians and would-be presidents and depending on them to make our financial situations better, our international situations better, our living situations better. God has NEVER quietly taken a back seat to others being lifted above Him and depended upon to make someone's life better, and I don't think He's about to start now. We say we're praying for God to change our country and help us through all the drama we're facing in our lives. But then we turn around and say "But OBAMA IS THE CHANGE! We NEED OBAMA to help us!! OBAMA can fix all of our problems because OBAMA cares about the people!"

Please don't be fooled into thinking Obama is going to give you a better life. Please don't think McCain is going to change this nation.

Obama is not the change - JESUS is the change. McCain is not the change - Jesus is the change. period.

God desires to be the only one we depend upon to change our nations and our lives. And yes, God can move THROUGH either political candidate - but we need to make sure we're recognizing Who is in control. God is in control of every single detail - and no matter WHO wins this election, that fact is never going to change.

instead of hoping that Obama is going to change our economy and provide jobs and make a better life for the people of our nation, pray for the Lord to provide for all your needs, as He said He would. instead of fearing that if McCain wins, this country is going to be in trouble, pray for God's hand to cover you and keep you no matter what happens. if McCain wins, it does not spell doom and gloom for America - IF Americans learn to recognize Who holds their lives in His hands. If Obama wins, it does not spell change and better days IF Americans DON'T learn Who holds their lives in His hands.

God is sovereign. No election will change that.

and truth be told, though no one wants to talk about it, biblical prophecy is already unfolding. and no president nor world leader is going to bring total peace, harmony or stability to this nation or this world. things are going to happen as part of the signs that Jesus's return is near. better to focus your energy on making sure you're prepared for His return.

too many people are gung-ho about casting their votes in eager hopes that one of these earthly men is going to change their lives as they know it. too bad more people don't yet know that there is only One Man who can change their lives forever - and that man is Jesus Christ.

I sincerely encourage everyone to get out and exercise their right to vote - I will!! But more so than that, I encourage everyone to sincerely pray about making the right decisions and letting God lead you - not your feelings and emotions and not the words of politicians.

and understand that no matter who wins, God has never ever relinquished His control.

have a beautiful day!!! :-)
