the meetings are over - praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
the only thing that got me through the first half before lunch was laughing at my coworker (silently of course) who was seriously surfing the net on his laptop the entire time. from my vantage point i got to see what performances are coming up at the Kennedy Center, some political articles, some stuff about the Duke Ellington Theater (i suspect my coworker is trying to catch a show? lol).
i also drew a very nice tree on my notepad.
the second half of the day, only an unlucky few of us had to sit through more meeting jazz. the rest got to escape, lucky ducks. so i took that as a opportunity to pray - hey, whenever you can right? so i put on my "i really care about what you're saying" concerned poker face, zoned out and prayed in my mind, no supplication, just telling God how much i love and appreciate Him.
well, the Lord must have decided to shine some favor upon me or maybe He pitied me freezing in the subzero temperatures of the conference room, because i got interrupted out of the second meeting by the coworker who had been net surfing in the first meeting. he needed me to come help him with something. YES! he whispered that it could wait if i couldn't leave the meeting, and i whispered back, "please rescue me." and he did. the rest of that meeting never saw my face.
make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.... His mercy is everlasting! :-D
and to top it all off, i have cookie dough waiting to be baked at home, and i have about 8 dvds to choose from for my entertainment purposes.
this will be a great night. i really should go to Bible Study tonight, but i'm exhausted. working late last night and getting up extra early this morning has me ready to crawl into bed and hibernate.
speaking of Duke Ellington, this is the week of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival in DC. if you're in town, you should come check it out! on Sunday, there's a free concert on the National Mall. and on Saturday there's a Latin Jazz All-Stars event at Bohemian Caverns (not free). i think i might like to hit at least one...
30 more minutes to go before this workday finally releases its choke hold on me and turns me loose.
