girly things

one of the many things i like about being a woman:

women can hold hands in public and not necessarily be seen as being lesbians.

i'm touchy-feely. i'm an affection junkie. i like to hold hands.

sometimes my sister and i hold hands and we're grown women, 26 and 29 years old. i'm sure some gutter-minded men (or women) see us and think "oooh la la, look at the hot lesbians" but whatever.

i saw two chicks holding hands the other day, but it seemed friendly and innocent, not gay. though they could have been lesbians, my mind didn't automatically go there because they were women. i smiled and thought, "aww, how sweet!"

i know a lot of women who hug, kiss and hold hands all the time simply because they're affectionate. it's one of the privileges of being women, and i love it.

now, two dudes walking down the street holding hands will always raise eyebrows. they can't get away with stuff like that. haha, score one for the ladies! i don't know any straight man who thinks, "man, this is my boy, my ace, my best friend, let me hold his hand in the mall..."

if i did know a straight man who did that, i think i may have to define "straight" for him. i'm just sayin...
